Part-Time Security Officer (Package Screening)

About the role

Allied Universal, a security and facility services company, is hiring a part-time Security Officer Package Examination (screener) in Sioux Falls, SD. The role protects a technology, media and telecommunications client by monitoring access points, screening visitors and materials and supporting a professional environment. Pay is $20.14 per hour, with day shifts on Thursday and Friday from 4:00 AM to 8:00 AM.

Key responsibilities

• Provide customer service to employees, visitors, contractors and delivery personnel while following site procedures and access-control requirements.
• Screen individuals, personal items, packages and deliveries with assigned equipment and protocols, documenting and escalating prohibited or suspicious items or activity.
• Verify credentials, visitor authorizations and contractor access before entry, and keep accurate entry and screening records.
• Respond calmly to incidents, alarms and critical situations, notifying site contacts and emergency responders as required.
• Carry out regular and random patrols of screening areas, entry points and the surrounding perimeter.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least 18 years old for unarmed roles; 21+ for armed roles.
• Comfortable using a computer or tablet is preferred.
• Subject to a background investigation and a drug screen to the extent permitted by law; licensing may be required depending on state and local law.
