Part-time Lecturer – Bioinformatics (Boston)

About the role

Teach graduate courses in the Bioinformatics Professional Science Master’s (PSM) program, covering biological science, algorithmic components, and programming methods. The role supports both in‑person and online classes and contributes to curriculum development.

Key responsibilities

• Review and learn key teaching points from existing instructor guides.
• Prepare lectures based on provided course materials and maintain high teaching standards.
• Facilitate respectful debates and discussions in class.
• Provide timely grading, coaching, and feedback on assignments.
• Maintain regular communication with students regarding performance.
• Contribute to curriculum development efforts.
• Adhere to Northeastern’s policies and hold office hours as appropriate.

Required profile

• PhD in bioinformatics, biology, or a closely related field.
• Experience applying computational methods to biological problems.
• Either prior teaching experience or at least 3 years of relevant industry or academic work.
• Open, supportive personal style willing to receive coaching from faculty lead.
• Prior experience in a diverse higher‑education institution preferred.
• Knowledge of Python and/or R programming languages strongly recommended.
