Part-time General Laborer for Parks & Recreation

About the role

This entry‑level, part‑time position supports the Parks & Recreation department by performing a wide range of manual tasks. You will work on city grounds, facilities, and public spaces, ensuring they remain clean, safe, and well‑maintained.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain parks and open spaces: mow lawns, plant trees, shrubs and flowers, fertilize, water, and control pests and weeds.
• Perform routine equipment upkeep such as oil changes, blade repairs, and small‑engine maintenance.
• Keep city buildings clean and orderly, collect waste, replace bulbs, restock restroom supplies, and assist with basic plumbing or electrical repairs.
• Support special events by installing, removing, and storing tables, chairs, and displays.
• Assist in street and property work, including grading, drainage, pothole repair, and sign maintenance.
• Collaborate with sanitation crews to collect and remove trash from streets and neighborhoods.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Ability to safely operate hand tools, chainsaws, lawn equipment, and light‑duty trucks.
• Willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
