Part-Time Firefighter/Paramedic

About the role

We are seeking a dedicated part‑time Firefighter/Paramedic to join the South Padre Island Fire Department. The role combines fire suppression duties with advanced medical response, ensuring the safety and well‑being of the community.

Key responsibilities

• Drive fire apparatus, operate pumps, lay hoses and conduct fire attack, containment and extinguishment.
• Provide first‑responder services, delivering Advanced Life Support (ALS) and Basic Life Support (BLS) care.
• Respond to fire and medical calls, operate radio and communication equipment, and complete incident reports.
• Participate in fire drills, training classes, and fire prevention inspections of buildings and hydrants.
• Maintain fire equipment, apparatus, facilities and perform general upkeep of the fire station grounds.
• Conduct rescues (water, vehicle, trench, high‑angle, confined space, etc.) and salvage operations.
• Serve as a preceptor for EMT and paramedic trainees and present safety programs to the community.

Required profile

• Valid Firefighter certification and Paramedic/EMT certification.
• Ability to work under the supervision of a Company Officer and collaborate with emergency personnel.
• Willingness to work part‑time shifts and be on call for emergencies.
