Part-Time Adult Education ESL Instructor – Evening Classes

About the role

Under the supervision of the Director(s) of Adult Education, the part-time instructor will deliver English as a Second Language (ESL) classes to adult learners at the Canton Campus, evenings on Mondays and Wednesdays.

Key responsibilities

• Teach reading, writing, speaking, listening, civics, workplace skills and American culture using TABE CLASS‑E tests.
• Prepare lesson plans aligned with English Language Proficiency Standards and adapt materials for students with special needs.
• Guide students, monitor attendance, evaluate progress, and provide feedback.
• Maintain classroom security, enforce the Student Code of Conduct and report hazards.
• Prepare and submit required documentation, retention reports and data for program improvement.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
• Teaching and classroom management experience at the secondary or post‑secondary level.

Required skills

• Knowledge of pedagogical practice and ESL curriculum standards.
• Ability to work cooperatively with students, faculty and staff.
• Strong oral and written communication.
• Decision‑making, problem‑solving and interpersonal relations.

What we offer

• Hourly wage of $22.50 for approximately 9.5–27 hours per week.
