About the role
The Ocmulgee Judicial Circuit Public Defender’s Office is hiring a Paralegal 1 to provide essential legal and administrative support. You will work closely with attorneys, staff, and clients to ensure smooth case preparation and office operations.
Key responsibilities
- Conduct legal research to support litigation and defense strategies.
- Prepare and draft legal documents, correspondence, and filings.
- Manage client interactions, including jail visitations and case updates.
- Coordinate schedules for hearings, appointments, and interviews.
- Assist with office administrative duties, operations support, and external communications.
Required profile
- High school diploma/GED plus at least one year of experience as a legal assistant, or a certificate from an accredited paralegal program.
- Strong interpersonal skills and enthusiasm for public service.
