Packout Operator

About the role

IKO Industries Ltd. is a manufacturer of roofing and building materials, and is hiring a full-time Packout Operator at its IKO Glass Fiber facility in Chester, South Carolina. The operator handles fiber quality inspection, packaging and labeling, and works on a 12-hour rotating shift schedule covering days and nights.

Key responsibilities

• Inspect fiber for defects every 15 minutes and document checks per work instructions, and inspect production on the belt deck and conveyors for dry fiber, clumps and build-up.
• Count fiber, maintain inventory records, and reject defective fiber.
• Weigh, package, seal and label all fiber production, and assign product identification labels or tickets.
• Use reports to monitor progress and implement corrective action.
• Follow written and verbal instructions, maintain safe and clean housekeeping, and perform other duties assigned by management.

Required profile

• Three or more years of manufacturing experience preferred.
• Ability to work in a high-temperature environment and to lift up to 50 lbs regularly.
• Ability to climb stairs, ladders and work from heights, and to work overhead for long periods.
• Willingness to work a 12-hour rotating shift schedule including days and nights.
• Some travel required.
