Outside Property Associate Claim Representative

About the role

Travelers is seeking an Outside Property Associate Claim Representative to join its claims team in the New York City market. The role combines classroom and on‑the‑job training with real‑world exposure to first‑party property claims, preparing you for independent claim handling after a 9‑12 month development program.

Key responsibilities

• Participate in structured training covering insurance policies, claim processes, and relevant systems.
• Review, investigate, and document first‑party property claims under supervision.
• Gather information from policyholders, claimants, witnesses, and third‑party providers.
• Analyze leases, contracts, bylaws and other documents to determine coverage for building damages.
• Establish accurate scopes of damage for building and contents losses and generate written or computer‑assisted estimates.
• Maintain timely, professional communication with customers, claimants, and internal stakeholders.
• Record all claim activity accurately in the claim management system.
• Demonstrate openness to continuous learning, especially in AI and digital transformation tools.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent; further education in insurance or related fields is a plus.
• Willingness to reside in or relocate at personal expense to the New York City territory.
• Strong analytical mindset and attention to detail.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
