Optometrist (Physician) – Full-time Clinical Role

About the role

Ochsner Health System in Baton Rouge is seeking a board‑certified or board‑eligible Optometrist to join its Department of Ophthalmology, Section of Optometry. The role focuses on delivering comprehensive primary eye care and managing ocular disease within an integrated practice model. The position offers close collaboration with ophthalmologists and access to a wide network of subspecialists across the Ochsner Health System.

Key responsibilities

• Provide clinic‑based optometric services as part of an integrated practice model with a strong internal referral network.
• Work closely with Ochsner ophthalmologists, receiving support from specialists and subspecialists throughout the health system.
• Utilize the EPIC electronic medical record platform for documentation and patient management.
• Deliver primary eye care, including diagnosis and treatment of ocular diseases, in a tort‑reform state.

Required profile

• Board certification or eligibility in optometry.
• Focus on primary eye care within an ophthalmology department.
• Experience or training in ocular disease is desired.
