Operations Manager – Wastewater Treatment Plant

About the role

Waggoner Engineering, Inc. is seeking an Operations Manager to lead the Greenville Wastewater Treatment Plant. This senior‑level position oversees safe, efficient, and compliant plant operations while supporting the community’s essential water infrastructure.

Key responsibilities

• Direct daily plant operations and manage the associated collection system.
• Ensure compliance with all permits, including NPDES, state, and local environmental regulations.
• Monitor performance data, laboratory results, and process controls to optimize treatment efficiency.
• Develop and maintain standard operating procedures, preventive maintenance programs, and emergency response plans.
• Prepare and submit accurate regulatory reports and coordinate inspections with agencies.
• Lead, coach, and evaluate plant operators, maintenance staff, and laboratory personnel.
• Manage staffing schedules, on‑call rotations, and training initiatives.
• Promote safety culture, conduct safety meetings, inspections, and incident investigations.

Required profile

• Residence within 30 minutes of the Greenville Wastewater Treatment Plant.
• Ability to respond to on‑call and emergency situations promptly.
• Strong leadership and team‑building capabilities.
• Commitment to environmental stewardship and continuous improvement.

Required skills

• Knowledge of wastewater treatment processes and regulatory compliance (NPDES, EPA Consent Decree).
• Experience with plant performance monitoring and data analysis.
• Proficiency in developing SOPs, preventive maintenance, and emergency response plans.
• Safety management and incident investigation experience.
