Operations Manager – Service Center

About the role

R+L Carriers is seeking an Operations Manager to lead the Phoenix Service Center. This full‑time position oversees all aspects of service center performance, from customer interaction to freight handling, ensuring safety, productivity, and quality standards are met.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise front‑line supervisors, drivers, and freight handlers.
• Maintain staffing levels for dock, linehaul, and city operations.
• Develop and implement action plans to achieve productivity and service goals.
• Manage safety, security, and loss‑prevention procedures in line with Company, OSHA, and DOT guidelines.
• Ensure clean, safe working conditions and proper equipment maintenance.
• Enforce service center work instructions, company policies, and quality freight‑handling procedures.
• Dispatch LTL loads promptly and handle additional duties assigned by the Service Center Manager.

Required profile

• Proven leadership experience in a fast‑paced environment.
• Strong organizational, communication, and logistical abilities.
• Thorough knowledge of LTL industry practices, DOT rules, OSHA regulations, hazardous‑materials handling, NMFC, and tariff rules (preferred).
• Ability to maintain staffing levels and develop employees.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office products.
