About the role
Catholic Charities of Long Island is seeking an On‑Call Housekeeper to support Talbot House, a residential withdrawal and stabilization center. The role involves maintaining a clean, safe environment for clients recovering from addiction.
Key responsibilities
- Perform routine cleaning duties such as mopping, floor buffing, dusting, window screen cleaning, and bathroom sanitation.
- Schedule and supervise clients in cleaning activities.
- Carry out minor maintenance tasks including lubricating doors, changing light bulbs, and simple carpentry, painting, or plumbing repairs.
- Move office furniture and supplies as needed and arrange daily debris pickup.
- Attend required meetings and respond to ad‑hoc tasks like snow shoveling.
Required profile
- High school diploma or GED.
- Mechanic background with knowledge of electrical, plumbing and carpentry.
- At least 2 years of experience in general household repairs.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lb and hold a valid NYS driver’s license.
