On-Call Dishwasher

About the role

The Hospitality and Private Events department of the Skirball Cultural Center seeks a capable Dishwasher. Reporting to the Executive Chef, the Dishwasher cleans a wide variety of food preparation and service items in line with Health Department sanitation and safety standards and assists with routine food preparation.

Key responsibilities

• Washes and dries dishes, glasses, utensils, pots, pans and related equipment.
• Loads and operates the dishwasher according to approved guidelines.
• Maintains cleaning equipment at proper temperature, checks and adjusts as needed.
• Inspects items for cleanliness and stores them properly.
• Cleans floor areas of water, detergent or food spills following safety standards.
• Disposes of garbage in appropriate waste containers.
• Assists with basic food preparation when needed.
• Sweeps, mops the kitchen floor and wipes down surfaces to ensure high cleanliness standards.
• Responds to service requests from team members in a friendly manner.

Required profile

• Physical ability to stand, walk most of the day, perform labor and lift heavy pots and trays.
• Ability to read and follow usage instructions for cleaning products and equipment.
• Excellent hand‑eye coordination to operate dishwasher equipment.
• Routine housekeeping and cleaning skills.
• Professional, friendly interaction with team members.
