Nursery Production Specialist

About the role

The Nursery Production Specialist supports the production, care, and maintenance of high‑quality native plant material. This hands‑on role offers the chance to develop expertise in Florida native plant propagation, irrigation, and plant health while working closely with nursery management.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with propagation of native species using seeds, cuttings, divisions, liners, and other methods.
• Perform potting, transplanting, pruning, spacing, and other production activities.
• Monitor plant health, identify pests, diseases, nutrient deficiencies, and irrigation issues.
• Adjust, troubleshoot, and perform basic repairs on irrigation systems.
• Apply fertilizers and plant health treatments according to schedule.
• Maintain accurate labeling, inventory records, and production documentation.
• Operate nursery equipment, utility vehicles, carts, and pumps safely.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent; horticulture or related coursework preferred.
• Interest in learning Florida native plant identification and commercial nursery production.
• Ability to recognize plant health changes and communicate concerns.
• Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to work independently or in a team.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to lift up to 50 lb.
