New Product Development Supervisor

About the role

The New Product Development (NPD) Engineering Supervisor will lead the mechanical engineering team at Clopay's Mason, Ohio Technology Center. You will oversee design, testing, and launch of commercial and residential overhead doors while guiding the transition to modern 3D CAD workflows.

Key responsibilities

• Establish and track project workflows, milestones, and timelines for the Mason engineering team.
• Lead the team through the structured NPD Gate Process, ensuring technical reviews and documentation are completed on schedule.
• Coordinate the migration from AutoCAD 2D and unstructured file storage to Autodesk Inventor and Autodesk Vault PDM, defining best‑practice design standards.
• Provide hands‑on mechanical design support, calculations, and component specifications when needed.
• Accelerate rapid prototyping and concept validation using internal and external resources.
• Assist the Technology Center Manager in specifying and installing prototype and testing equipment.
• Supervise daily team activities, resolve bottlenecks, and foster communication and mentorship.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• 7–10 years of product development engineering experience, including 1–3 years in a supervisory or project‑lead role.
• Proven leadership, communication, and mentorship abilities.
• Experience managing stage‑gate processes and engineering change orders.

Required skills

• 3D CAD modeling (Autodesk Inventor) and product data management (Autodesk Vault).
• Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) and Design for Manufacturability (DFM) knowledge.
• Rapid prototyping techniques such as 3D printing and CNC machining.
• Project management tools like Jira and MS Project.
