About the role

iHeartMedia is hiring a Morning News Editor for the Rocky Mountain Region of 24/7 News, based in Denver, Colorado. The editor writes and crafts newscasts for KOA's morning news block and provides local, regional and national news content to the 24/7 News Wire. Early mornings are a must.

Key responsibilities

• Write clear, concise news copy and assemble stories into newscasts under tight deadlines.
• Produce, edit and write content for the 24/7 Newswire.
• Post news and video content to newsroom social media platforms.
• Gather audio from press conferences, live events and partner TV stations.
• Produce short-form reports (voicers/wraps) for anchors on the morning shift, and may anchor breaking news reports as needed.
• Carry out general newsroom duties as assigned.

Required profile

• 3+ years of on-air journalism experience in a smaller market or college station.
• 4-year college degree, preferably in Broadcast Journalism or Communications.
• Willingness to work early, pre-dawn hours.
• Knowledge of local, regional and national trends.

Required skills

• Strong news writing, story selection and editing, with excellent grammar.
• Ability to assemble stories in a newscast in a logical order.
• Social media skills: email, Facebook, X (Twitter) and Instagram.
• Proficiency in media production (mainly audio) and broadcast systems.
• Strong time management, working independently and collaboratively.
