About the role
The Montessori Academy of Broward seeks an enthusiastic Montessori Primary Teacher to lead a dynamic, inquiry‑based classroom for students in grades 1 through 5. The role blends rigorous academic instruction with the Montessori philosophy of independence, empathy, and lifelong learning.
Key responsibilities
- Prepare and maintain a well‑organized Montessori classroom environment that fosters independence, inquiry, and collaboration.
- Deliver Montessori lessons across core subjects such as language, mathematics, science, cultural studies, geography, and practical life.
- Observe and record academic, behavioral, and developmental progress to inform instruction.
- Support students in developing executive‑functioning skills, social‑emotional growth, and conflict‑resolution abilities.
- Collaborate with assistants, specialists, and families to ensure student success and maintain clear communication.
Required profile
- Montessori Elementary certification for ages 6‑9 (AMS, AMI, MACTE, or equivalent) or willingness to become certified.
- Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education, Early Childhood Education, or related field preferred.
- CPR and First Aid certification preferred.
- Experience teaching elementary‑age students in a Montessori or child‑centered environment.
- Ability to create and maintain a prepared Montessori classroom and to use project‑based, hands‑on learning approaches.
Required skills
- Deep knowledge of Montessori principles and developmental needs of elementary‑aged children.
- Strong classroom management and highly organized planning skills.
- Ability to guide independent, inquiry‑driven, collaborative learning.
- Excellent communication, observational, and interpersonal abilities.
- Proficiency in differentiating instruction for diverse learning styles.
