Modernization Mechanic – Elevators & Escalators

About the role

KONE is seeking a Modernization Mechanic for its Greater Miami territory to support elevator and escalator modernization projects, ensuring safety, quality and timely delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Analyze, problem‑solve and collaborate with subcontractors, general contractors and consultants to keep modernization projects on schedule.
• Manually assemble and install major elevator components such as rails, pits, hoist‑way equipment, car and counterweight assemblies, and machine‑room gear.
• Wire and install smaller components (roller guides, door tracks, hall buttons, lanterns) while observing color‑coded wiring standards.
• Maintain site safety in accordance with KONE policies and report progress to the supervising manager.

Required profile

• Clear verbal and written communication for internal and external stakeholders.
• High concentration and attention to detail while intermittently wiring and installing equipment.
• Physical ability to stand, walk, lift up to 100 lb and perform repetitive stooping, bending and crouching.
• Willingness to travel up to 95 % of the time and operate an automobile.

Required skills

• Manual assembly of elevator equipment.
• Installation of elevator and escalator components.
• Electrical wiring of elevator systems, including color‑coded wiring.
• Use of hand and power tools for installation and maintenance.
