Mobile Service Technician - Mesquite, TX

About the role

The Mobile Service Technician (MST) maintains and repairs light construction equipment such as skid steers, chippers, trenchers and mini-excavators at The Home Depot stores or nearby customer job sites. The MST makes routine store visits to inspect equipment, document its status, carry out preventive maintenance and complete work orders. The position reports directly to the regional manager and is scheduled Tuesday to Saturday, with overnight travel under 10% of the time.

Applicants must live within a 25-mile radius of the Mesquite/Garland area and meet DOT medical certification requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Train store associates and customers on equipment operation and follow all safety requirements, including Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations.
• Maintain MEWP certifications, accurate parts and fleet inventory, and transfer equipment between locations.
• Deploy new equipment to stores, including pre-delivery inspections and training.
• Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance, minor repairs, and respond to service calls.
• Document all work using the company technology platform and assist with equipment deliveries and pickups.

Required profile

• Age 21 or older and legally permitted to work in the United States.
• Close, distance, color, peripheral and depth vision, and ability to adjust focus.
• Physical demands: lifting, standing, bending, climbing, occasional work at heights and exposure to dust, fumes or odors.
• Associate's degree or equivalent, or 3 years of experience; no leadership experience required.

Required skills

• Preferred: 1+ year of experience servicing construction equipment, including small engines and hydraulics.
• Preferred: reading technical repair and parts manuals, inventory management, and handheld device use.
• Preferred: Microsoft Office Suite, negotiation and complaint handling, excellent communication skills.
