Mobile Service Mechanic

About the role

The Mobile Service Technician (MST) maintains and repairs light construction equipment such as skid steers, chippers, trenchers and mini-excavators at The Home Depot stores or nearby customer job sites. The MST makes routine store visits to inspect equipment, document its status, carry out preventive maintenance and complete work orders. The position reports directly to the regional manager and covers Tuesday to Saturday, 6:30am to 3:00pm, with candidates living within 20 miles of Parker, CO.

Key responsibilities

• Train store associates and customers on equipment operation and follow all safety requirements, including Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations.
• Maintain MEWP certifications, keep parts and fleet inventory accurate, transfer equipment between locations and deploy new equipment to stores, including pre-delivery inspections and training.
• Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance, inspect equipment for rental readiness, and make minor repairs.
• Respond to service calls, order parts, use the company technology platform to document labor and parts, and assist with equipment deliveries and pickups.

Required profile

• Age 18 or older and legally permitted to work in the United States.
• Meets DOT medical certification requirements; specific vision and physical abilities listed.
• Preferred: 1+ year of experience servicing construction equipment, familiarity with inventory management, and a valid driver's license.
• Preferred: associate's degree or equivalent in a related field.

Required skills

• Preferred: light construction equipment maintenance, including small engines and hydraulics.
• Preferred: reading technical repair and parts manuals, and working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
• Preferred: handheld device use (smartphone, laptop, tablet).

Travel is typically under 10% overnight, and the work involves physical demands such as lifting, standing and working outdoors. Pay range for California, Colorado, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Nevada, New York City, Ithaca (NY), Westchester County (NY) and Washington residents is $25-$28.
