Mining Inspector – Geotechnical Projects

About the role

Wood Rodgers is seeking a Mining Inspector to join its Geotechnical team, supporting mine‑site construction and environmental compliance across rural Nevada and the western United States. The role is full‑time, hourly and involves on‑site inspections of mining facilities, liner systems and related earthwork.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct inspections of mining operations, construction activities and environmental controls to verify compliance with plans, specifications and regulatory requirements.
• Monitor earthwork, grading, subgrade preparation and material placement for mine facilities and structures.
• Inspect and document installation of liner systems (geomembranes, geosynthetics, clay liners, protective layers), including seaming, testing and repairs.
• Maintain detailed inspection records, daily reports, photographs and non‑conformance documentation.
• Communicate findings to project managers, engineers, contractors and regulators, and verify corrective actions.
• Support audits, regulatory inspections and project close‑out documentation.
• Adhere to site safety procedures, MSHA requirements and company policies at all times.

Required profile

• Hands‑on experience as a Mining Inspector, Mining Technician, Construction Inspector or a related role.
• Strong knowledge of mining construction practices, environmental compliance and MSHA safety regulations.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications and permit conditions.
• Willingness to work independently in remote, rural locations and travel for extended field assignments.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to operate a vehicle on rugged terrain.

Required skills

• Inspection of geomembrane and geosynthetic liner systems.
• Knowledge of heap leach pads, tailings facilities and pond construction.
• Familiarity with MSHA regulations and mine‑site safety protocols.
• Construction drawing interpretation.
• Environmental compliance and quality‑control procedures.
