Mid‑Senior Patent Litigation Associate

About the role

Nixon Peabody is seeking a Mid‑Senior level Patent Litigation Associate to join its Intellectual Property Practice Group in one of several major U.S. markets. The associate will work closely with clients to navigate complex patent disputes, protect intellectual property assets, and drive strategic outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Lead patent litigation matters from case initiation through trial, closing arguments, and appeal.
• Draft and respond to pleadings, prepare infringement and invalidity claim charts, and conduct Markman and claim‑construction proceedings.
• Manage patent‑specific fact and expert discovery, including inter‑ partes reviews.
• Develop and execute overall litigation strategy in coordination with senior attorneys.
• Collaborate with clients to identify opportunities for leveraging patents and mitigating competitive risks.

Required profile

• 4–8 years of patent litigation experience with a strong track record of handling complex cases.
• Significant experience in drafting pleadings, claim charts, and conducting discovery.
• Experience with Markman hearings, inter‑ partes reviews, and overall litigation strategy.
• USPTO admission and a law degree from an accredited institution.
• Excellent judgment, communication skills, and ability to thrive in a fast‑paced environment.
