Microelectronics Test Engineer

About the role

Amentum, a partner to U.S. government agencies, is hiring a Microelectronics Test Engineer to join its engineering team supporting the design, testing and evaluation of radiation-hardened microelectronic components used in strategic defense systems. You will build test solutions from the ground up, covering hardware design, circuit development, automated test programming, data review and customer engagement.

Key responsibilities

• Develop electrical test methods for high-reliability, radiation-hardened microelectronic components.
• Create complete test packages, including test interface hardware, circuit schematics, PCB layouts and ATE control software.
• Design, simulate and evaluate test circuits for characterization and performance validation.
• Design and develop printed circuit boards and automated test programs.
• Collect test data, support reviews and contribute to analysis and engineering design reviews.
• Prepare technical reports, specifications, documentation and correspondence.
• Track project status and ensure compliance with engineering documentation standards and test procedures.
• Collaborate with customers during design reviews and technical working groups.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering and at least 5 years of experience with microelectronics or electronic components.
• Hands-on experience with lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, meters and analyzers.
• Ability to obtain and maintain an active Secret clearance (U.S. citizenship required; interim clearance needed to start).
• Strong problem-solving, communication and organizational skills, able to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.

Required skills

• Understanding of microelectronics concepts, theories, structures and material properties.
• Preferred: experience testing microelectronic components, EDA tools such as Altium, Eagle or LTSPICE, and programming in Python, C, C++, Visual Basic, git or LabVIEW.
• Preferred: basic analog or digital design experience, understanding of noise sources and measurement techniques, and familiarity with microelectronic fabrication processes.
