Microbiology Analytical Senior Scientist

About the role

We are seeking a Microbiology Analytical Senior Scientist to lead product preservation initiatives for our water‑based formulations. Based in Charlotte, NC, you will combine hands‑on laboratory work with scientific leadership to enhance product performance, sustainability and reliability.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, optimize and execute microbiology, polymer characterization and analytical tests supporting product development, manufacturing, quality assurance and customer investigations.
• Lead projects using microbiological methods such as sample collection, culturing, gram staining, imaging, sequencing and challenge tests.
• Apply polymer and analytical techniques including redox/pH measurements, gas chromatography (GC), liquid chromatography (LC), mass spectrometry (MS), thermal analysis, DMA, rheometry and scanning electron microscopy (SEM).
• Investigate product quality issues related to preservation failures or contamination and provide scientifically sound recommendations.
• Evaluate and implement new testing technologies and laboratory capabilities.
• Create and maintain SOPs, work instructions and technical documentation to ensure consistent laboratory practice.

Required profile

• Senior‑level scientist with strong expertise in microbiology and preservation science.
• Proven ability to collaborate with R&D, manufacturing, quality, technical service and external partners.
• Experience driving data‑driven problem solving and delivering practical solutions.
