METS Program Assistant

About the role

The METS Program Assistant supports academic advising workshops and coordinates program activities for students from disadvantaged backgrounds. Working closely with the METS team, the assistant helps promote college awareness and facilitates events, field trips, and college tours.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as METS representative at assigned target schools, assisting the Academic Advisor with college advising services.
• Co‑facilitate monthly college workshops covering career exploration, admissions, financial aid, and cultural awareness.
• Distribute and collect METS applications, flyers, and event calendars to current and prospective participants.
• Maintain METS space in College Centers, posting informational flyers about deadlines and scholarships.
• Attend school events, parent meetings, registration drives, and weekly METS staff meetings.

Required profile

• Experience working with students from diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds.
• Mission‑driven passion for programs serving disadvantaged individuals.
• Strong written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Ability to prioritize, work independently, and handle conflict resolution under pressure.
