Metrology Maintenance Technician

About the role

NXP is hiring a Metrology Maintenance Technician in Austin to perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on Photo/Metro/AMHS equipment in the ATMC area. The role covers maintaining, repairing, upgrading and monitoring wafer fabrication metrology equipment such as 4-point probes, atomic force microscopy, CDSEM, film thickness measurement tools and defect inspection tools.

Key responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and repair electrical/electronic, pneumatic and mechanical systems
• Perform scheduled maintenance, consumable changes and other activities supporting the area's success
• Complete documentation and train others on equipment maintenance
• Communicate effectively in writing and verbally
• Stand for long periods (up to 10 hours) and occasionally stoop or crawl in confined spaces; lift and carry objects up to 50 pounds

Required profile

• Minimum of 8 years of experience in the semiconductor industry
• Specific knowledge of maintenance job functions; an AS or AAS in electronics or another industrial engineering field is preferred, or equivalent experience
• At least 5 years of experience in the Metrology/Defect area
• An AA degree in Electronics or a related discipline with 5 years of technical maintenance experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, may be acceptable

Required skills

• Solid understanding of SPC and FDC, and ability to use them to improve equipment performance
• Excellent verbal and written communication and problem-solving skills
• Good interaction with Operations and Engineering personnel, and ability to interface with internal and external groups on safety, performance and reliability
