Mentor & Strategic Development Coordinator (AmeriCorps)

About the role

The Mentor & Strategic Development Coordinator is an AmeriCorps service role with The DREAM Program that blends direct youth mentoring with organizational systems development. Members will recruit, train and support volunteer mentors for the Village Mentoring program while improving internal workflows and technology to increase program capacity and equity.

Key responsibilities

• Identify and streamline existing workflows and processes.
• Research, recommend, and implement new software solutions to optimize operational efficiency.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to ensure seamless integration of new systems.
• Monitor and evaluate program processes to identify areas for improvement.
• Develop tools, templates, and guidelines that facilitate transparent operations.
• Recruit, train, and support volunteer mentors from college campuses.
• Ensure mentors understand and can implement the Village Mentoring model.
• Work with Youth Services Managers to assess mentee needs and tailor mentoring approaches.
• Maintain strong relationships with mentors, mentees, and program staff.
• Support mentor retention, onboarding, compliance processes, and background checks.

• Experience working with youth.
• Commitment to serve as a role model for youth.
• Passion for diversity, equity, and inclusion.
• Experience in diverse, inclusive environments with awareness of social and racial justice.
• Demonstrated practice serving people of color equitably.
• Ability to manage time and set priorities.
• Access to reliable internet, power, phone, and transportation for in‑person meetings.
• Meet AmeriCorps eligibility: U.S. citizen or permanent resident, appropriate age, and education requirements.
