About the role
The Mentor Coordinator supports DREAM’s Village Mentoring program by training, recruiting, and guiding volunteer mentors from college campuses. This role works closely with Youth Service Managers to ensure mentees receive holistic, culturally appropriate support.
Key responsibilities
- Explain the Village Mentoring model to volunteers and clarify mentor responsibilities.
- Collaborate with the Youth Services Manager to assess mentee needs and foster partnerships between mentors, staff, and the community.
- Provide resources and training to ensure high‑quality mentoring experiences.
- Maintain relationships with every volunteer mentor and mentee in the supported chapter.
- Plan and execute recruitment, compliance (background checks, documentation), and chapter wellness initiatives to achieve a 1:1 mentor‑to‑mentee ratio.
Required profile
- U.S. citizen, national, or lawful permanent resident; at least 17 years old (or 16‑year‑old out‑of‑school youth).
- Pass criminal‑history checks as required by AmeriCorps.
- Commitment to the full service term (Sept 2026 – May 2027) and to DREAM’s mission of equity and inclusion.
- Ability to serve as a role model for youth and to work effectively in diverse communities.
- Reliable transportation, phone access, and willingness to travel to college campuses.
