About the role
The Meetings Services Assistant provides essential support to the Security Council Subsidiary Organs Branch (SCSOB) of the United Nations, assisting the Analytical Support and Sanctions Monitoring Team in the preparation and conduct of Security Council meetings and related events.
Key responsibilities
- Prepare and organise official documentation in the six UN languages for distribution in conference rooms.
- Notify relevant offices of daily programme changes for Security Council committees and meetings.
- Distribute procedural notes to chairpersons and maintain accurate speaker and attendance records.
- Assist in drafting agenda items, participant lists, and briefing materials for chairpersons.
- Ensure reports meet UN document standards and coordinate reproduction with the documents control office.
- Prepare floor plans, seating arrangements and monthly statistics on meetings held at headquarters.
- Coordinate video‑ and tele‑conference arrangements and manage cost estimates for off‑site meetings.
- Draft routine correspondence, maintain filing systems, and respond to queries from delegations and the Secretariat.
Required profile
- Ability to work under the supervision of a Political Affairs Officer within the UN Secretariat.
- Proficiency in handling documentation in the six official UN languages.
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail for managing meeting logistics and records.
