Medical Safety Officer – Robotics and Digital

About the role

The Medical Safety Officer provides medical safety leadership and clinical expertise for robotic surgery products, supporting risk‑benefit assessment, post‑market surveillance, regulatory interactions and safety‑related decision‑making throughout the product lifecycle.

Key responsibilities

• Assess product risk‑benefit, review risk management reports, health hazard evaluations and safety surveillance plans.
• Review adverse events, complaints, mass communications and provide medical input on safety training materials.
• Interpret post‑market safety data, aggregate complaint data and literature reports to guide product safety decisions.
• Advise on failure investigations, reportability and act as subject‑matter expert during audits and regulatory interactions.
• Participate in cross‑functional product development teams, ensuring device safety and risk management are integrated.

Required profile

• MD, DO or equivalent (MBChB) with at least five years clinical experience as a robotic surgeon in an active specialty.
• Experience in risk evaluation, mitigation and familiarity with medical device or pharmaceutical environments.
• Knowledge of basic statistical and epidemiological principles.
• Board certification in a relevant surgical specialty is preferred.

What we offer

• Base salary range $229,000 – $395,600 per year
