Medical Assistant

About the role

Evergreen Family Medicine is seeking a full‑time Medical Assistant to support patient care across its Roseburg clinic. The role involves direct patient interaction, clinical procedures, and coordination of diagnostic services in a fast‑paced outpatient environment.

Key responsibilities

• Room patients, obtain vitals, review medication lists and medical histories.
• Prepare examination rooms, set up pap smears, clean and sterilize equipment, and operate the autoclave.
• Assist providers with minor surgical procedures, stitch removal, ear‑wax extraction, injections, and other clinical tasks.
• Perform EKGs, spirometry, and administer immunizations with appropriate documentation.
• Conduct point‑of‑care lab tests (e.g., rapid strep, mono, UA) and prepare specimens for external labs.
• Manage appointment scheduling, referrals for imaging (US, CT, MRI, stress tests) and follow‑up result notifications.
• Maintain inventory, order supplies weekly, and perform monthly quality checks of refrigeration units.
• Document patient visits, triage phone calls, and handle medication refill requests.

Required profile

• At least one year of experience in a medical setting.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Current BLS certification or ability to obtain upon hire.
• Flexibility to work any shift, including evenings and weekends.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.

Required skills

• Manual vital sign measurement (blood pressure, pulse, respirations).
• Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems.
• Knowledge of ICD‑10 coding for labs and diagnostics.
• Experience performing EKGs and spirometry.
• Ability to operate an autoclave and perform instrument sterilization.
• Immunization administration and related paperwork.
• Point‑of‑care lab testing and specimen handling.
