Medical Assistant – Endocrinology

About the role

Vail Health Hospital is seeking a Medical Assistant to join its Endocrinology team in Avon. The role involves independent assistance to providers, maintaining accurate patient records, and performing essential administrative duties to support high‑quality patient care.

Key responsibilities

• Obtain, monitor and record vital signs, patient history and procedures in the Electronic Health Record (EHR).
• Field patient phone calls promptly and professionally.
• Assist providers with examinations, procedures and direct patient care.
• Prepare patients for scheduled procedures, perform venipunctures, injections and initiate IV therapy as needed.
• Monitor patients’ medical condition and report changes to the provider.
• Maintain patient documentation, communicate care plans and ordered diagnostics.
• Ensure examination rooms are clean, stocked and equipment is functional; perform opening and closing procedures.

Required profile

• Minimum two years of patient care and administrative experience (preferred).
• Certified Medical Assistant (CMA, RMA, NCMA, CCMA, MAC, or equivalent) required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Ability to perform venipuncture, administer injections and initiate IV therapy.
• Knowledge of medical terminology, HIPAA and OSHA regulations.
