Mechanical Engineer – Structural (Remote, US)

About the role

Airbus U.S. is seeking an enthusiastic Mechanical Engineer to analyze and develop satellite mechanical systems. The role involves full‑lifecycle work from requirements definition through operations, supporting innovative space technology projects.

Key responsibilities

• Perform structural analysis and modeling for satellite and launch configurations, including the heritage Arrow platform.
• Support development of subsystem requirements, design for cost/manufacturability/test, and ensure reuse of existing Airbus heritage products.
• Contribute to spacecraft product roadmap, design adjustments, schedule and cost targets for future business captures.
• Execute mechanical system engineering activities to build, maintain and evolve Airbus spacecraft products, promoting cost savings through heritage design reuse.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in STEM (or related) with minimum 3 years experience (or 1 year with Master’s).
• US citizenship and ability to obtain a Secret or higher security clearance.
• Ability to travel up to 20% domestically and occasional international travel.

Required skills

• Proficiency with FEMAP, ANSYS and/or NASTRAN for mechanical analysis.
• Proficiency in 2‑D/3‑D CAD tools such as SolidWorks, Creo, or similar, and GD&T.
• Familiarity with space mission architectures, launch environments, and satellite platforms.
