Master Utilities Maintenance Technician

About the role

The Texas A&M University Cyclotron Institute is seeking a Master Utilities Maintenance Technician to ensure reliable operation of its complex mechanical and utility systems. This senior‑level position involves preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance across a wide range of equipment.

Key responsibilities

• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on cooling tower fans, pumps, heat exchangers, LCW water pumps, and related equipment.
• Repair water leaks throughout the cyclotron and associated systems.
• Maintain chemical balance for cooling towers and low‑conductivity water systems.
• Service building air compressors, hydraulic systems, and install/repair copper piping up to 4 inches.
• Provide technical guidance to assistant technicians and contribute to cost estimates for new projects.
• Document work, conduct root‑cause analyses, and recommend actions to prevent equipment failures.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED; equivalent experience accepted.
• Minimum seven years of experience with industrial boilers, turbines, chillers, or similar equipment.
• Forklift certification within six months of hire.
• Ability to work evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
• Clear communication skills and physical ability to carry light equipment and ascend stairs.
