Maritime Training Program – Deckhand to Captain

About the role

Join Curtin Maritime’s paid training program that guides motivated individuals from entry‑level labor to qualified Deckhand, Mate, and Captain positions. The program combines classroom instruction, on‑the‑job mentorship, and hands‑on work aboard tugs, barges, and cranes.

Key responsibilities

• Complete a structured curriculum that progresses through three training levels.
• Work under experienced mentors on Curtin Maritime’s fleet, performing tasks on tugs, barges, and crane equipment.
• Demonstrate competence in maritime safety, vessel operations, and equipment handling to advance to the next level.

Required profile

• Highly motivated, self‑driven individuals willing to learn and work hard.
• Ability to pass the “Curtin Heart Check” and demonstrate a positive mental attitude.
• Willingness to travel on short notice and work overtime when required.
