Mapping Specialist

About the role

Applied Intuition is looking for a Mapping Specialist to create and refine high‑definition (HD) maps that power Level‑4 autonomous vehicle operations. You will work with lidar point clouds, satellite and aerial imagery, and street‑level photos using the company’s cartography web application to produce highly detailed road environment data.

Key responsibilities

• Create, edit and maintain HD maps for autonomous vehicle perception, planning and localization.
• Digitize road network geometry, semantic attributes and infrastructure from lidar point clouds, high‑resolution satellite/aerial imagery and street‑level imagery.
• Apply strict mapping specifications to ensure accuracy, completeness and consistency.
• Participate in multiple revision cycles, validating map data against performance and robustness criteria.
• Triage and troubleshoot map‑related disengagement issues and provide root‑cause analysis.
• Deliver structured feedback to improve internal tools, workflows and mapping specifications.

Required profile

• Experience in HD map creation, GIS mapping, spatial annotation or 3D modeling for autonomy, robotics, simulation or gaming.
• Comfort with technical workflows and fast‑paced, iterative feedback cycles.
• Ability to work onsite in Sunnyvale, California, with occasional remote flexibility.
