Manufacturing Equipment Engineer

About the role

Tesla is looking for a motivated Manufacturing Equipment Engineer to support continuous operations and world‑class production of its cutting‑edge battery packs. You will work on automated equipment for the Cybercab battery packs, focusing on improving overall equipment efficiency in a fast‑paced environment.

Key responsibilities

• Analyze and optimize production equipment to maximize Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) while ensuring safety.
• Lead continuous‑improvement projects to increase yield, reduce cycle time, and improve equipment availability.
• Collect and interpret production data, report metrics to management, and identify trends in availability, efficiency, and quality.
• Diagnose downtime issues using structured problem‑solving methods (DMAIC, Ishikawa, 5 Why, 8D) and implement root‑cause solutions.
• Develop SCADA systems to monitor real‑time production data.
• Collaborate with process engineering and maintenance teams to resolve equipment issues and enhance reliability.
• Support rapid ramp‑up of new products to full‑scale production.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
• Proven experience improving OEE on high‑volume, automated or semi‑automated manufacturing lines.
• Strong background with Siemens and/or Beckhoff PLC/HMI control systems and Fanuc industrial robots.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively in cross‑functional manufacturing and engineering teams.
