Manual Machinist / Fabrication – 1st & 2nd Shift

About the role
This position is responsible for setting up and operating manual machining and fabrication equipment to produce quality parts from ferrous and non‑ferrous materials. The role works on both the first and second shifts in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment.
Key responsibilities
- Operate manual lathes, drills, presses, blacksmith threading equipment and other fabrication tools to perform cutting, threading, shearing, grinding, punching and related operations.
- Interpret operation travelers, blueprints and oral instructions to select tools, set up machines and determine machining methods.
- Conduct first‑piece and in‑process inspections using micrometers, calipers, verniers, machinist squares and thread/plug gauges.
- Adjust machine settings, perform routine maintenance and ensure parts meet quality specifications.
- Safely handle raw and finished materials using cranes, dollies, carts and other material‑handling equipment.
- Maintain a clean, organized work area and store tooling with proper labeling.
- Cross‑train on additional equipment and report safety hazards.
Required profile
- Ability to safely lift up to 50 lb and perform physical duties in a manufacturing setting.
- 1‑2 years experience setting up and operating CNC machines or manual lathes, with basic shop math knowledge.
- Capability to read and interpret blueprints, operation travelers and oral instructions.
- Willingness to become certified on material‑handling equipment such as forklifts or cranes.
