Mandarin Translator for Asian Art Exhibition (Part‑time)

About the role

We are looking for a part‑time Mandarin‑speaking exhibition staff member to support Doyle’s Asian Art Auction exhibition and subsequent auction days in New York. The role involves welcoming and assisting clients, providing translation services, and helping with live phone bidding.

Key responsibilities

• Greet clients and ensure a warm, welcoming atmosphere throughout the exhibition.
• Maintain safety and security of visitors, artwork, and exhibition space.
• Explain auction procedures, registration, and condition‑report requests to clients.
• Distribute exhibition materials such as gallery catalogues as needed.
• Handle prints and paintings, including removal from walls and careful re‑placement.
• Provide live phone‑bidding translation for Mandarin‑speaking bidders during auction days.
• Perform ad‑hoc duties that arise during the event.

Required profile

• Fluent in both English and Mandarin.
• Professional, polished demeanor with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to stand for extended periods between breaks and lunch.
• Legally authorized to work in the United States.
