Job description

About the role

Airwallex is looking for a Manager, Regulatory Operations, US, to join its Regulatory Legal & Compliance team. You will help build and operate the framework that turns complex regulatory and partner obligations into tested, well-evidenced controls across Airwallex's US-licensed entities and products. The role is hands-on and execution-focused, working with Regulatory Compliance, Regulatory Legal, Risk, Product, Operations, Finance and external partners. You will work from the San Francisco or New York office three days a week (Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays).

Key responsibilities

  • Identify, interpret and operationalize regulatory and partner obligations across US jurisdictions, products and licensed entities.
  • Design and implement key regulatory and partner controls with Product, Operations, Engineering, Risk and Regulatory Compliance.
  • Build and maintain regulator- and partner-ready documentation, including obligation mappings, control descriptions, RACIs, testing approaches, evidence standards and remediation tracking.
  • Engage with regulators, auditors and financial partners on control-related inquiries.
  • Support US regulatory exams, audits, inspections, RFIs and supervisory engagements by coordinating responses and evidence packages.
  • Contribute to US regulatory reporting and obligations governance, and drive remediation of gaps and duplications.
  • Help establish obligations-management practices that scale with the US business.

Required profile

  • 7+ years of experience in regulatory operations, regulatory compliance, internal audit, risk management or a similar discipline in a fast-growing technology, financial services, payments or fintech company.
  • Proven experience turning legal, regulatory or partner requirements into operational controls, procedures and testing or assurance activities.
  • Direct involvement in regulatory exams, audits, inspections, RFIs or partner due diligence, with personal ownership of planning, coordination, documentation or remediation.
  • Strong project management, analytical and writing skills, and comfort in a fast-moving, high-standard environment.
  • Comfortable working across time zones with a globally distributed team.

Preferred qualifications

  • Experience with payments, e-money, card issuing or acquiring, treasury, embedded finance or multi-jurisdiction fintech models.
  • Prior exposure to US regulators (e.g. FinCEN, CFPB, state regulators) and US bank or card scheme partners.
  • Experience building obligations registers, control libraries or regulatory reporting operating models.
  • Familiarity with GRC tooling, and certifications such as CAMS, CRCM, CIA or CISA.
