Maintenance Technician - Ontario Convention Center

About the role

The Ontario Convention Center is looking for a part-time, hourly, non-exempt Maintenance Mechanic reporting to the Director of Operations. The role covers the day-to-day maintenance and physical well-being of the facility, including utilities, HVAC and repair work. Pay is $23 per hour.

Key responsibilities

• Operate, monitor, repair and maintain environmental controls, emergency power, electrical, HVAC, fire and lighting systems.
• Perform major and minor repairs to heating, ventilation and air conditioning equipment.
• Maintain boilers, check safety devices, install and test backflow devices, and treat water in boiler, chilled water and condenser systems.
• Maintain bearings, pumps, motors, shaft alignments and fans.
• Repair food service equipment such as ovens, grills, dishwashers, deep fryers and refrigeration units.
• Do general equipment room maintenance and paint equipment as needed.
• Answer public inquiries, resolve complaints and follow safety plans and policies.
• Operate forklifts, power sweepers, power scrubbers, boom lifts, electric carts and hand/power tools.
• Recommend supplies to the Director of Operations, keep daily work records and perform other assigned duties.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED.
• Valid California driver's license.
• Forklift certification preferred.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend and lift 25 lbs, work at a computer and move around the facility; irregular hours, including nights, weekends and holidays, and possible work with hazardous substances.
• Must pass a background check.

• Knowledge of HVAC operating principles and food service equipment maintenance.
• Electrical practices.

• Ability to operate office equipment and vehicles.
