Maintenance Technician

About the role

The State of Georgia is seeking a Maintenance Technician to support South Georgia Technical College’s campus facilities. This full‑time position involves installing, maintaining, and repairing a wide range of building systems while providing excellent service to students and staff.

Key responsibilities

• Install, maintain, and repair electrical systems and associated hardware.
• Service HVAC equipment, including commercial refrigeration and appliances.
• Maintain and renovate plumbing fixtures and hardware.
• Assist with carpentry and renovation projects as assigned.
• Perform grounds maintenance, including landscaping installation and upkeep.
• Maintain fire alarm, sprinkler, and security systems.
• Respond to emergency repair requests and maintain required logs.
• Support the upkeep of college equipment and vehicles.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED plus at least one year of experience in a skilled trade (electrical, carpentry, plumbing) or building maintenance.
• Knowledge of safety policies, building codes, and the ability to read construction plans, specifications, and blueprints.
• Physical ability to lift, push, pull, and exert up to 100 lb occasionally and 25‑49 lb frequently.
