Maintenance Technician

About the role

The Maintenance Technician works under the direction of the Grounds Superintendent to keep city buildings and facilities operating safely and efficiently. The role involves a mix of electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and general repair tasks, ensuring that scheduled maintenance is completed and unexpected issues are resolved promptly.

Key responsibilities

• Respond to work orders, troubleshoot and repair electrical systems (reset breakers, replace bulbs, change ballasts).
• Perform minor plumbing work such as fixing leaks, unclogging drains, and replacing fixtures.
• Carry out carpentry duties including lock changes, door hanging, sheetrock repair, painting, and building shelving.
• Maintain building access hardware, cut keys, and manage door hardware replacements.
• Construct and pour concrete forms, and handle cement work as needed.
• Coordinate with contractors and building managers to plan and complete projects.
• Transport materials and equipment between job sites and maintain the assigned vehicle.
• Document daily tasks and contribute to annual project reports.
