Maintenance Repairer 2

About the role

This classified position reports to the Maintenance Superintendent of the Sheet Metal Shop and is responsible for roof and building maintenance, including minor repairs, gutter work, and assistance on carpentry, painting and heavy‑equipment tasks.

Key responsibilities

• Check buildings for rain leaks, clean and repair roofs, gutters, downspouts and roof drains.
• Assist the sheet‑metal team in fabricating and installing roof flashing, metal gutters, awnings, conduit heads, exhaust grilles, ducts and air‑handler pans.
• Support carpentry tasks such as installing or repairing floors, doors, walls, ceilings and fences, and perform demolition and site cleanup.
• Help painters and plasterers with demolition, material handling, plaster repair and surface painting.
• Operate large man‑lifts, scissor‑lifts, forklifts and trucks with trailers safely.
• Provide guidance to Maintenance Repairer 1 staff when required and respond to emergency maintenance work.

Required profile

• At least two years of experience or training in building construction trades, building maintenance, mechanical equipment repair, or related fields.
• Or completion of a two‑year vocational program in general building construction, construction technology or engineering.
• Or twelve semester hours in construction management, construction technology or engineering.
• Ability to operate large man‑lift equipment safely.
