Maintenance Repairer 1 – Campus Parking & Transportation Services

About the role

The Maintenance Repairer 1 supports Parking and Transportation Services by performing parking lot, roadway, signage, and general exterior maintenance across the LSU campus. Working with the department’s maintenance team, the role involves painting, striping, signage installation, and various campus upkeep projects.

Key responsibilities

• Perform general parking lot and roadway maintenance, including measuring and marking spaces, travel lanes, curbs, and crosswalks.
• Install, remove, straighten, and replace directional, regulatory, parking, and specialty signage.
• Prepare surfaces and apply paint and pavement markings using striping machines, rollers, stencils, brushes, and spray equipment.
• Inspect signage, pavement markings, curbs, and traffic‑control devices for damage and visibility, and report hazards.

Required profile

• At least one year of experience or training in building construction trades, maintenance, or park operations, or six semester hours in construction‑related coursework.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to operate a two‑way radio; subject to background check and drug screening.

Required skills

• Operation of striping machines and rollers for pavement markings.
• Use of pressure washers, weed trimmers, and other approved equipment for surface preparation.
• Installation and maintenance of parking and regulatory signage.
