Maintenance Repair Technician (Journeyman Carpenter)

About the role

The Maintenance Repair Technician performs general carpentry duties to support the renovation and remodeling of medical, educational, and research facilities on the UAMS campus. The role ensures safety, comfort, and well‑being of patients, students, and staff while responding to facility emergencies.

Key responsibilities

• Drive to and from construction sites or the UAMS Main Campus.
• Construct walls, install suspended and sheetrock ceilings, doorframes, doors, drywall, and floor coverings.
• Determine required materials from construction drawings or site conditions.
• Complete documentation for the Engineering & Operations work order system and preventative maintenance program.
• Assist with facility problems and emergencies across medical, educational, and research areas.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED.
• At least one year of carpentry experience.
• Valid driver’s license with fewer than 12 points on the motor vehicle record.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings.
• Novice proficiency with computers, tablets, and smartphones.
