About the role
The University of Arkansas at Little Rock is seeking a Machine Shop Fabricator to support faculty, graduate and undergraduate research projects. This 12‑month position involves designing, building, and maintaining custom research and educational equipment in a fast‑paced fabrication environment.
Key responsibilities
- Consult with faculty and students to design and construct research and teaching equipment.
- Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot CNC turning centers and vertical machining centers.
- Perform routine maintenance on metalworking tools such as mills, lathes, grinders, band saws, and drill presses.
- Use hand and power tools for metal and woodworking projects.
- Weld aluminum components and ensure safety standards are met.
Required profile
- Minimum high school diploma.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lb, climb ladders, and stand for extended periods.
- Strong attention to detail and problem‑solving skills.
Required skills
- Proficiency with SolidWorks and CAM Works software.
- Experience operating CNC machining equipment.
- Competence with metalworking tools and hand/power tools.
- Aluminum welding capability.
