Machine Operator - 3rd Shift

About the role

Saputo, a top 10 global dairy processor, is hiring a Machine Operator for its 3rd shift in Franklin. The operator sets up, operates and maintains machines across several departments so they run smoothly, at full capacity and produce high-quality products. Candidates should be detail-oriented, willing to learn, able to follow instructions, work well with others and follow all safety regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure quality and productivity of the line while keeping equipment running efficiently.
• Handle all adjustments, minor repairs and changeovers of equipment.
• Maintain records and documentation neatly, accurately and legibly.
• Operate metal detectors when needed and complete the required paperwork.
• Perform quality checks, follow reporting and recordkeeping procedures, and report problems to a supervisor.
• Monitor finished-product quality by keeping the equipment and facility sanitary.
• Check that products are packaged according to customer specifications (price, date, label, packaging).
• Follow company policies including GMP, SOP, HACCP, SSOP and H&S, and keep the work area clean and organized.
• Minimize waste, use downtime productively, attend safety and departmental meetings, sanitize lines when needed, enter data on production reports and perform other assigned tasks.

Required profile

• Able to push, pull and lift between 20 and 100 pounds, and lift up to 40 lbs unassisted frequently.
• Working knowledge of production and plant processes and of safety methods and procedures.
• Ability to work scheduled hours and required overtime.
• Reliable, honest, respectful, attentive to detail and punctual.
• Self-motivated, able to multi-task, work independently and as part of a team, and committed to food safety, quality and customer satisfaction.
• Comfortable in a noisy, temperature-changing manufacturing environment with standing, walking, bending and climbing stairs.
• Willingness to work with chemicals and wear personal protective equipment.

Required skills

• Basic analytical and numerical skills, including simple math in different units of measurement.
• Effective communication.
• Ability to read and understand production worksheets.
