Library Support Assistant

About the role

The Library Support Assistant works as a member of the University of Arkansas at Little Rock library staff, providing essential collections management and customer service. The role supports patrons with research and technology assistance, handles circulation duties, and supervises student employees.

Key responsibilities

• Assist patrons with research queries and technology use.
• Manage circulation tasks including checking materials in and out.
• Supervise and train student employees.
• Secure library materials and handle monetary transactions.
• Monitor building conditions and library security, reporting issues promptly.
• Follow established library procedures and policies.

Required profile

• High school diploma (required); bachelor’s degree preferred.
• At least one year of experience providing assistance or instruction in a library or educational setting.
• Ability to work a regular schedule of Sunday‑Thursday, 1 pm‑10 pm.

Required skills

• Customer service skills.
• Basic knowledge of library circulation processes.
• Ability to supervise and train student staff.
