Level 2 Plant Technician

About the role

The Level 2 Plant Technician works in the production and process department of a large manufacturing facility. The role involves operating multiple filler lines, handling bulk fluid shipments, and ensuring safety, quality, and production targets are met.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare work areas with raw materials, caps, labels, and containers; coordinate tank status and radar volume readings.
• Prevent line and tank cross‑contamination through line‑up double‑checks, flushing, blowing, and pigging procedures.
• Coordinate barge and bulk‑truck operations with third‑party personnel, including tug boats, USCG, and inspectors.
• Set up and maintain equipment: change filters, flush lines, sample fluids, adjust tool components, reset scales, and ensure proper coding.
• Monitor equipment during runs, addressing leaks, spills, jams, out‑of‑spec materials, and equipment breakdowns.
• Conduct quality checks on raw materials and finished goods using FFU/FFS checklists, vision systems, scale verification, and QC lab approval.
• Follow ISO 9001, ISO 14001, RC 14001, and TS 16949 standards and plant operating procedures.

Required profile

• FLT certification and pallet lift‑jack certification.
• Completed plant safety and tool‑safety training.
• Demonstrated HSSE&C safety leadership and quality‑value‑added mindset.
• Adherence to bp’s Code of Conduct.

Required skills

• Operation of pail‑line, drum/tote, and bulk filler equipment.
• Tank radar reading and safe fill‑level management.
• Line flushing, blowing, and pigging techniques.
• Equipment monitoring and troubleshooting (leaks, jams, filter changes).
• Quality inspection using vision systems and scale resetting.
• Knowledge of ISO 9001/14001, RC 14001, and TS 16949 procedures.
